visualizing and verbalizing
Visualizing and Verbalizing is a program that teaches children to visualize and create gestalt (or whole) pictures. It starts at the single, simple picture level. You show the kids a single picture and then take the picture the way and ask questions about what they remember using 12 structure words as a guide. This program builds on itself to increase reading comprehension by creating visual pictures as you read.
I feel like some of my lower language kids need additional support to get started with this program. I created a supplemental support system available in my TPT store here. This extra visuals give them choices and words to help shape their mental pictures. Here is an example:
