This adapted book is perfect to carry you into summer with colorful picnic scenes. When making adapted books, I like repetition and simplicity. This book allows for 7 repetitions of each target sentence including "Do you like + object" and "I like + object".
The first 15 pages include large, simple scenes with target sentences written beneath. Page 16-17 include additional word and picture boxes and a sentence strip to print. Once you print on cardstock, cut, and laminate these words, attach rough side of a velcro square to the back of the pictures. Place a long strip of soft velcro onto the sentence strip.
After reading each page, have the child make their own sentence using the sentence strip and individual words and pictures. Next, let the child touch each picture as they say the sentence.
For AAC users, have them use their device to say the sentence or just target one word depending on their level of proficiency. Double points for using the Core Word "like" in the production. I feel like AAC users get stuck on requesting so frequently, but are not practicing sentences that would help them communicate their likes and dislikes. This adapted book is great for practicing the "I like" sentences in a structured tasks.
