pcs memory app for articulation and language

I use my ipad ALOT in speech sessions. Kids are instantly engaged and I love not having to rifle through task cards or clean anything up. I have blogged about this app before, but I need to go back to it again.....because it is so awesome! PCS Memory by Dynavox is so legit. I literally use it every single week. I was a lucky duck and got it when the full app was free. Now, you can download a free version with the option to unlock additional decks when you upgrade for $$. Just buy it. Seriously. So awesome. Here is a preview into what you get: 

Four sections to focus on vocabulary, articulation, language, and rhyming. I love the vocabulary section....especially the actions deck. I have my kids make a good sentence using the action word when they find a match. I also love that unlike other apps, the pictures stay flipped over when you find a match. See here: 

When you find all the matches, a cute little reinforcing video pops up. The kids love the videos! They are actually pretty funny.....I mean a dog sneezing and loosing all his hair....funny. 

Then you get to the articulation part. Praise the Lord for how they broke up their decks. They realize that sometimes we want to work on blends separately....and pesky vocalic /r/ (not pictured) has a section all on its own! Can I get a Hallelujah! I do wish that you could work on multiple decks at the same time. When I am working with a group that has different sound targets. I tell them "first we are working on so and so's sound, but if you hear your sound in their words I want you to practice it". It works. 

The last section I use pretty consistently is the language section. You have 4 great decks to choose from: adjectives, alphabet, opposites, and synonyms. When using the opposites and synonyms deck, when the kid turns over a single card, I have them verbally tell me the opposite or synonym word they are looking for. 

 

I can't say enough good things about this app. It is really worth the purchase! I am a big fan of Dynavox and all their products. Look forward to my post about their Bingo game as well :)
